Prior to Privatisation in the early 90s, the SBG was spit up a bit, forming two or three new companies, one of which was Kelvin Scottish. Kelvin took alot of the routes and depots in Glasgow that had belonged to Midland and Central Scottish.

Formed in the early 80s, Lowland was an offshoot of Eastern Scottish and took in the area sort of south of Edinburgh. Privatised in 1990, it survived untill being bought by First and painted pink. Which is a real shame.

M8 Motorvator are the "other" company that run express coaches between Edinburgh and Glasgow, much like Citylink. Think they're owned by Stagecoach now

Maidstone and District traces its history back to 1908 and a not entirley successful steam bus route between Maidstone and London. The Tilling group aquired an interest in the company in 1922 and it was absorbed into the NBC in 1972.

The buses of the de-regulation Midland Scottish ended up with Midland Bluebird, which was a rather nice company. Like everything else it ended up with First too. Shame innit?

The buses of Midland Red, or the Birmingham and Midland Motor Ominibus Co. Until the early 70's, BMMO built their own buses too.
This collection will also cover Midland Red after it split into 3 parts before privatisation.

An indipendand company in Birmingham with an interesting fleet of buses. Atlanteans are still operated but new 'deckers seem to be coming and theres a nice fleet of low floor single deckers too.

Southdown once covered Sussex and parts of Hampshire with regular tour and express work to London. Famous for the Leyland PD3 "Queen Marys" amongst other notable buses. It joined the Stagecoach group in 1989 after the break-up of the National Bus Company

 | 30th Sep 2006 | Southern National, Western National and Royal Blue
A long standing ex Tilling and NBC operator in Devon and Cornwall, Western National and Southern National still survive under First ownership, having been united on the formation of the NBC, and then divided again in 1983.
The Royal Blue operation was owned jointly between Southern National and Western National, becoming part of National Travel in 1972 and disappearing entirely when National Express ditched fleet names.
Since the three companies have had such a close existence, I've decided to group them here.

Brookes Bros., trading as White Rose Motor Buses, began running charabancs from Rhyl in 1912. The fleet grew to almost 100 vehicles before being taken over by Crosville Motor Services in 1930.
